JANUARY 08, 2014

Request 1, Homicide
On 12/22/2013 at 4:30 p.m. unknown subjects entered the upstairs apartment in the 600 block of First Street in Jackson Mi. and shot Phillip Sango in the head. Mr. Sango died from the gun shot. The suspect was described as a black male 6’1” to 6’2” approximately 270lbs with a beard
wearing all black. The witnesses state that the suspect is in his thirties.

Request 2, Robbery
On 01‐07‐14 at approximately midnight Officers responded to an armed robbery that just occurred at a convenience store in the 2600 block of S. Cedar St. Accused was a white male, 5'10", with spiked hair, and wearing a headband, black jacket and jeans.  The accused came in the store at approximately midnight; he came up to the counter and told the employer give him the money. Accused also indicated he had a gun.

DECEMBER 23, 2013
Homicide
On a Saturday December 12th, 2012 Officers responded to an unknown trouble call in the 1000 Kelsey Avenue in Lansing Michigan. At the address officers discovered that the residence had been broken into.  Upon clearing the residence Officers discovered the deceased.
Lavoris Watkins a 26 year old female had been killed by an unknown assailant sometime prior the Officers arrival. Investigators do not believe that this was a random burglary but was a planned incident.

DECEMBER 18, 2013

Request for Assistance #1
A convenience store in the 300 block of Creyts Rd. Windsor Twp.  Eaton County was broken into at 2:20am on Friday November 8th
2013. The suspect stole items from within the store before fleeing in a white colored Pontiac Vibe. There was a second subject who remained in the driver seat of the vehicle. Suspect #1 who made entry was a male unknown race and wore jeans, a dark colored possibly green hooded sweatshirt, work gloves and had his face covered. No description for suspect #2. The suspect vehicle was a white colored Pontiac Vibe. MSP Lansing is looking for information that would lead to the identification of the suspects involved.

On 12/12/13, the business in the 2200 block 0f E. Michigan Avenue was robbed by three subjects armed with handguns. In store video captured this individual as one of the suspects.

DECEMBER 04, 2013

Request for Assistance #1
Early in the morning on Monday November 18th Officers were dispatched to 3200 block of W. Miller in reference to a breaking and
entering complaint. 

The owner of the establishment was called by one of his employees indicating that the business was broken into.

On the night of the 17th, two individual’s entered the establishment’s lot and proceeded to load up a significant amount of landscaping equipment into a vehicle. After the vehicle was full the suspects then exited the scene. It is believed that the vehicle involved may
be an early to mid-90's Chevy pickup that is a two tone color, silver along the bottom with blue over it. Police would like the public help
in identifying the owner of this vehicle.

The two individuals in the photos are wanted for questioning in reference to credit card fraud at the Meijer’s in East Lansing. One is a
slender younger black male, the other a black female possibly in her late 20’s or early 30’s.  They were seen driving a lighter colored minivan
pictured below.

NOVEMBER 20, 2013

Request for Assistance
On October 8, 2013 at 9:15 pm a party store located in the 1000 block of Lake Lansing Road was robbed at gun point. Two Black male subjects entered the store with the lower part of their faces covered and with hoods over their heads. One of the accused pointed a long gun at the employee and demanded he give him the money. The other subject came behind the counter to take the money.

Request for Assistance
This incident occurred at Sparrow where the accused stole the wallet of the victim out of her office. The accused then used the wallet at various businesses throughout the Lansing area.  These images are from one of these stores. Detectives would like to question these two individuals.

OCTOBER 16, 2013

Requests for Assistance in Two Recent Cases.

Case 1#
On Weds Aug 14th, 2013 Officers responded to a possible home invasion occurring at a residence in the 500 block of S. Pennsylvania. Upon arrival officers discovered that the home invasion case was now a homicide case.  Multiple persons broke into the residence in order to steal property. During the attempted robbery 19 year old Giovanni Yeje was shot and killed.

Case 2#
Late in the evening on Monday May 13th Officers were dispatched to Pennsylvania and Michigan on a Personal Injury accident. Upon their arrival they discovered it was a Hit n Run.  The Suspect vehicle stopped for a moment and then left east bound from the scene. Due to multiple injuries, the victim was unresponsive and immediately transported to Sparrow where he later died. Witnesses reported the vehicle involved is a Newer Light Blue Chevy Cruize or similar vehicle. The vehicle probably will have significant front end damage. New information indicates that the auto was possibly driven by a dark complected male with a dark complected female passenger that gazed out at the accident while the vehicle left the scene.

The individual in the pictures and video is wanted for questioning in a recent string of armed robberies. The accused has been described as a black male, approximately 5'9 with a slim build. The accused was wearing an all red sweatshirt and dark jeans in one robbery and a distinctive hoody in another.  The accused had on a white mask.

SEPTEMBER 25, 2013

Request for Assistance 1
Lansing Township Police Department is investigating a breaking and entering that occurred at Culvers in Eastwood Town Center on
Sunday Sept. 8th, 2013 at approximatly 7:00 am. Time indicated on on surveillence is one hour slow. The supect is a white or hispanic male,
20-30 years of age. The suspectis approximately 6 feet tall and weighs about 170 pounds.
The suspect appeared to have a light beard or facial hair on his chin. At the time of the theft the suspect wore a bulky, dark colored backpack, alight gray or blue baseball style hat with a dark
brim, and a green and white pullover with a zipper and blue jeans. The suspect fled on a dark colored mens mountain bike that has chrome handlebars and a rear fender.

Request for Assistance 2
On Monday September 2nd, 2013 at approximately 0252 hours Lansing Police Department Officers were dispatched to the 3200 block of W Holmes in response to a shooting.  Dispatch advised that three people had been shot.  During a get together a physical altercation began. Shots were fired with the result that  Marcus Basey was killed.

On 9-22-13 at approx. 1007 hours, Lansing Police Officers responded to 1600 block W. Mt. Hope on a robbery that had just occurred at a local store.  The cashier was aproached by the accused who stated that he was robbing the establishment. The accused, after taking a sum of money
left eastbound on Mt Hope.  The accused is described as a Black male, 40's - 50's, older, 6'0 - 6'1, dark blue hoodie, dark pants, with a short beard.  The 2 individuals in the picture to the left and right were in the store close to the time of the robbery and police would like to get any information that they may have on the robbery.

SEPTEMBER 18, 2013

Request for Assistance 1
On 8/21/13, at approximately 0230 hours Officers were dispatched out to 5800 block of S. Pennsylvania to a storage facility. Dispatch advised that a burglary alarm was going off.  Upon gaining entry it was found that someone had broken into the building and they had stolen the money out of the cash drawers.


Surveillance video shows 2 individuals inside of the facility. Police would like to identify either of these persons.

Request for Assistance
On August 9th, 2013 at 3:30 p.m. officers were called out to a robbery complaint from a service station in the 1900 block of Michigan Ave.

The establishment’s employee on duty states the accused walked in and had a handgun. The accused told the employee to give him all the money.  After giving the accused the money the employee was ordered into another portion of the store while the accused escaped.

SEPTEMBER 04, 2013

Request for Assistance #1
On August 12, 2013 at 3:30 p.m. officers were called out to a Larceny from a Vehicle complaint. The victim stated that she was called by her bank for suspicious activity on her credit card, several charges in locations she did not frequent, and multiple charges in a very short period of time. 

The victim immediately went to her vehicle, noticed the purse had been taken from the seats and her sweatshirt was left hanging out of the car door.  Obviously, someone had entered her vehicle. 

Later it was determined that a suspect using the victims credit card was captured on surveillance video. The footage showing a white female about 5'9", 120 pounds, blond hair, wearing a teal sweater/jacket and blue jeans, carrying the victim’s purse and using her charge card.

DISPATCH INFORMATION: On 9/2/13 at approx. 9:05 p.m. Officers were dispatched to the Little Caesars Pizza in the 2900 block of Grand River in reference to a Robbery. 

A witness stated that an unknown male entered the store, indicated a weapon and demanded money.  The male stuffed the money in his pocket and took off out the door. 

Witnesses described the accused as follows: 1. B/M, dark complexion, 5'6"-5'9", approx. 30 yoa, wearing a dark "Coogi" winter coat and shorts.

AUGUST 28, 2013

Request for Assistance #1

On August 17, 2013 at 4:30 a.m. officers were called out to an Electronic Store located in the 6200 block of S. Cedar for a breaking and entering. The front window had been smashed with a large brick and subjects entered the store and stole a several items of
merchandise.

On August 23, 2013 at 4:15 a.m. officers were called out to the same store. The glass door had been smashed with a large brick and subjects entered and took off with more merchandise. 

The first incident on August 17th, a subject rides by the store on a bicycle and 2 others walk behind him. They smash the glass window to enter the store. The second incident there were 3 subjects looking into the glass door. The glass door was shattered and 2 subjects crawled through the broken glass door.

Request for Assistance #2

At 4:30 PM ,on August 24th during a festival taking place in the Old Town area of Lansing an altercation occurred between two individuals. When Police intervened they discovered that a stocky white male wearing a blue shirt had shoved a female to the ground resulting in injuries that required hospitalization. A bystander had video of the incident and in it the suspect can be seen pushing the victim and then walking away.

The Lansing Police would like to identify this person for further investigation.

Request for Information

The Michigan State Police is asking for assistance in identifying possible suspects involved in a malicious destruction of a mailbox complaint. Troopers were dispatched to Shepper Rd. in Stockbridge Twp. Ingham County on 8/8/13 at 3:40am. An explosive device made of a cast iron pipe was used to blow up the mailbox.

Request for Assistance #2
On last week’s crime stoppers we highlighted a story involving a business on the 2000 Block of W. Oakland Ave in Lansing that had been burglarized several times during the month of July.  The same establishment was burglarized again on the 24th of July early in the morning. Surveillance video shows a single white male forcing open and entering through the drive thru window. Once inside, he moves through the store checking several cabinets and registers.

The accused appears to be a white male, late teens to mid-twenties wearing a white hooded sweat shirt, blue jeans and white shoes. He appears to have light brown or blonde hair that is very short.

JULY 24, 2013

Case #1
A business on the 2000 Block of W. Oakland Ave in Lansing has been burglarized several times during the month of July. The subjects seen in the surveillance video appear to be both white males. One person is wearing will a ball came that appears to have a some sort of logo on it. Local Police would like to identify these two individuals.

Case #2
On 7/10/13 at approximately 11:30pm a victim was attacked with a baseball bat in the 1600 block of Herbert. The accused is known to the victim only as Greg.
The description of the accused is listed below. The victim did the tattoo that is described on the accused. Below are pictures of the tattoos. The skull starts at
the shoulder and goes down. The other tattoo is below it.  These tattoos are on the right arm of "Greg"
black male- medium complexion
age -18
height-approx.5'11"
weight-approx. 160 lbs.
athletic build
hair-short afro approx. 1/2" black
eyes-brown

These tattoos are very distinctive as they contain white ink in the skull and cross bones and a rose, leafs are green with white in the high lights, webs are
in black all has black outlines, this starts at the top of the shoulder, below this image is the demon ripping out of the skin, this tattoo has the following colors purple and orange demon with red and orange tearout surround with a cappuccino colored shield.

Attempt to Identify 
During late June a couple entered a grocery store located near Jolly Rd in Lansing. After purchasing a number of good using a Electronic Benefits Card it was discovered that the card used was stolen.

Attempt to Identify #1
On Tuesday June 18th 2013, an assault took place in the Lowcroft / Cavanaugh / Martin Luther King Blvd. area in the City of Lansing. The victim of the assault
talked to the suspect for some time before the incident occurred. With the victims help a composite drawing of a suspect has been created. This composite
drawing is an artist's rendering of an unknown suspect, produced from a witness description. It should be viewed as an approximation of the
suspect's appearance, not necessarily an exact likeness.

JUNE 05, 2013

Request for Assistance

On Sunday May 26th at approx. 10:00 pm Officers were dispatched to Subway in the 1600 block of E. Michigan in reference to a Robbery complaint.
 
An employee was behind the counter, in the back room area, cleaning.  Employee heard the audible doorbell go off indicating someone had entered the store.  The employee walked out of the back room towards the counter and was met by an unknown person wearing a mask.  The suspect acted as if had a gun.  The accused ordered the employee to the cash register drawer and the safe.  The employee complied and the accused grabbed the cash and placed it into a black back pack.  The accused then took off on foot out the east door and possibly left North Bound.
 
ACCUSED DESCRIPTION:   The employee described the accused as a B/M, 6'0" 180-200lbs, stocky, wearing a dark colored "jump suit"/"jogging suit" top and bottom, dark tennis shoes.

Request for Assistance #2

BANK ROBBERY
Mason State Bank Branch, 661 N. Cedar St. Mason, MI

On 05-21-13 at approx. 7:00 p.m., the Mason Police Department responded to the report of an armed robbery at the Mason State Bank Branch located at 661 N. Cedar St. in the city of Mason. The teller reported a White Male, 30 to 40 years old, with a five o'clock shadow, wearing a White Ball Cap, White T-Shirt and Cut-off Shorts contacted her through the drive thru intercom around 5:00 p.m. to report a problem with the ATM. Just
after 6:00 p.m., the teller went out to check the ATM and the same subject displayed a hand gun and demanded she provide him with the money from the ATM. The teller was then forced back into the bank, where the suspect took additional cash. The suspect was not located in the area by responding officers. The bank branch is attached to Biggby Coffee at the same location.

MAY 22, 2013

Request for Assistance

The East Lansing Police Department (ELPD) is currently investigating two sexual assaults and one attempted sexual assault that recently occurred in the City of East Lansing. All three victims were MSU students.  The most recent case occurred last night, May 16 at approximately 8 p.m. in the parking lot outside of the Abbott Pointe Apartments off of Abbot Road. The suspect dragged the victim behind a dumpster, where he physically and sexually assaulted her before fleeing on foot northbound on Abbot Road. The suspect was last seen on Abbot Road just north of Saginaw Street. He is described as a white male with an average build and height (5’5”-5’10”), approximately 18-  25 years old. He was wearing a faded red or pink shirt, shorts and bright green shoes with white socks.  Two similar cases occurred prior to last night’s assault this past April; the first taking place on Coolidge Road south of Lake Lansing Road around midnight on Saturday, April 20. The victim was dragged to a secluded area where she was physically and sexually assaulted.

The second incident took place at approximately 3 a.m. on Friday, April 26 in the 300 block of Charles Street. The victim was attacked upon attempting to enter her home and dragged to a secluded area, where she was physically assaulted and an attempted sexual assault occurred.

In all three cases the suspect was described as a white male with an average build and height (5’5”-5’10”), approximately 18-25 years old.

MAY 15, 2013

Request for Assistance
Officers were dispatched to the 200 block of S. Fairview in the city of Lansing, on Thursday, March 7th, 2013 at 11:30 pm in reference to a death.
Officers entered the residence and found Donald Taylor Jr. deceased. It was later determined the Donald had been stabbed. Police are requesting that anyone with information on this crime to come forward, no matter how insignificant the information appears to be.

One Attempt to Identify 
 
On Saturday, April 13, 2013, Police in Torrance, California responded to an Identity Theft complaint.  The victim discovered that an unknown person or persons had opened several credit card accounts using the victim’s identification information. The suspects then made several thousand dollars’ worth of purchases at various Lansing area establishments.  Police have surveillance photos of several people that may have information on this crime and are asking for the public’s help in identifying these persons.

Attempt to Identify
INFORMATION
On Friday April 12th, 2013 at approximately 04:30 in the morning Officers responded to a report of a fire in the area of Watersedge and Village
Drive in East Lansing.  When officers arrived, there was no one around the fire. The fire was furniture found near a dumpster in the parking lot.
The attached pictures are of three males collecting trash in the hallway of one of the apartment’s buildings near where the furniture was lit on fire. The East Lansing Police Department is looking for these subjects to question about the Arson.

APRIL 10, 2013

Request for Assistance
INFORMATION:
On July 3rd, 2003, during the early morning hours an unknown person or persons kicked in the front door at a residence in the 200 block of S Francis, in the City of Lansing. 17 Year old Brandon Bridges woke up and confronted the intruder and chased the subject outside. Brandon was shot outside of the residence and subsequently died. Police would like any assistance the public can provide in order to solve this case and bring the perpetrators to justice.

Attempt to Identify #1
INFORMATION:
Early in the morning of April 3rd 2013 Officers were dispatched to 5400 block of S Cedar to a Burglary Alarm. Upon arrival Officers observed the front door glass of the building was broken out. Officers cleared the building and no suspects were located inside the building.  Security video shows three males wearing masks and gloves. They entered by smashing in the front door went directly to the jewelry area took the cases on top of the counter and exited the building.

MARCH 27, 2013

Seeking Information
On July 8 2012 at approximately 3:00am, sixteen year old Levon Wilson was shot and killed in the front yard of a home on the 1000 block of Jenison.  Witnesses have indicated an SUV that carried an undetermined number of gunmen opened fire on people that were standing in front of the residence. The vehicle fled north on Jenison from Maple. The Detective investigating this case does have potential suspects, but is looking for additional information. If you have any information concerning this homicide, no matter how insignificant you may feel it is, it may be the piece that brings this case together.

 

MARCH 13, 2013

Attempt to Identify
The incident took place at South Hubbard Hall (MSU Campus). On Friday, Feb 2nd, 2013 at approximately 12:40 PM the victim was standing in the hallway near the south stairwell when the suspect walked past her then turned back towards her and grabbed a white iPhone 5 out of her hand and ran out of the south exit. Victim chased after him but lost him. Accused was observed on video wandering the halls in North and
South Hubbard Hall up to an hour before the theft occurred.

Suspect info: B/M, approx. 5-08, wearing blk/gry/wht jacket, blue jeans, black knit hat (at the time of the theft he had on the hat).

FEBRUARY 27, 2013

Request for Assistance
On Wednesday, February 20th, 2013, Officers responded to for an armed robbery complaint in the 1800 block of S. Washington Ave. in Lansing.
Victim states that he parked in the back of the establishment and walked inside.  The victim finished up his business and got into his truck. He states that as he was sitting in the driver’s seat, 2 men walked in front of his truck and opened his door. One of the men was holding a small revolver. Victim was forced to hand over a bag containing money.

 

Accused Description
1. B/M, 16, 5
'10", stocky, dark skin, black scarf or ski mask, black hooded sweatshirt, black pants.
2. B/M, 16, shorter, average build, dark skin, black coat, black hoody pulled up, black pants.
Nearby a surveillance camera capture footage of a vehicle of interest travelling at a high rate of speed away from the
area. The vehicle is described as an older blue Chevy full size van with a large stripe on the sides. The van has chrome wheels, chrome rear ladder and chrome foot board. The vehicle also has a tire carrier on the rear which is the same color as the van.

FEBRUARY 20, 2013

Attempt to Identify #1
On Tuesday Oct. 30th, 2012 the victim noticed that money had been debited from her bank account. Victim then discovered that her ATM card was missing. It was discovered that this transaction was at an ATM. This ATM transaction occurred at Independent Bank in Potterville, Mi. Transaction time was 11:53am. Photos from the bank show the suspect was a white male possibly in his 20's wearing a hooded sweatshirt/jacket with an orange reflective vest over top.  If you have any information concerning this Case please call the detective at (517) 332-1907

Attempt to Identify
East Lansing Police would like to question the male in the green jacket and female wearing a white jacket in these photos for allegedly passing a counterfeit $10.00 bill at the Burger King located at 1580 West Lake Lansing Road in East Lansing Michigan on 01-09-2013. The two appear to know each other.

Cold Case Homicide on 8/1/2009
Location: 900 Block of West Cavanaugh, Lansing, MI. 48910
INFORMATION:
On August 1st, 2009 at 10:22pm Officers were dispatched to a shooting that had just taken place in the 900 block of West Cavanaugh.  Facts of the Case:
On Saturday evening, August 1st 2009, during a small gathering, Edric Raynard Hinton, age 19, was the victim of a homicide. While the group was together an unknown assailant fired multiple shots into the residence striking Mr. Hinton. At this time police do not believe the deceased was the intended victim.

Appeal for Assistance
A reward up to $6,000.00 is being offered for the arrest of the person(s) involved in a breaking and entering at a residence in the 2800 block of W. Willow (across the road from the St. Joseph Cemetery) in Lansing Township on Saturday night, April 21, 2012. A large quantity of valuable coins, including collector coins, was stolen from the home.  A second breaking and entering occurred at the same home on Saturday evening, October 14, 2012. The homeowner responded to someone at his front door. The suspect(s) assaulted the homeowner and then restrained him. Once again, a large quantity of valuable coins, including collector coins, was stolen.  Anyone having information on these incidents is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at (517) 483-STOP

JANUARY 30, 2013

Attempt to Identify
The East Lansing Police Department has been investigating a series of Unlawful Entries/ and one Home Invasion where a resident was assaulted while the suspect was trying to flee. All of these incidents have occurred at the same residence in the area of Park Lane and Beech St.  These incidents occurred between the months of August 2011-September 2012.  The victims encountered the same suspect in each case sleeping or pretending to sleep in random places within their home.  The suspect has been described by three witnesses as being:

Light to Medium toned Skin
5'10"-6'00" tall
170-180 lbs "Skinny"
Bald or very close cut hair
some stubble facial hair
